Family Update October 11

YouTube can be a great source of learning and entertainment, but it's important to ensure children are viewing age-appropriate content. Common Sense Media recommends that families take advantage of YouTube's parental control features, such as Restricted Mode, supervising children's accounts through YouTube Kids, and using Family Link to manage settings and screen time.

Taking a few minutes to review and adjust these settings can help create a safer viewing experience for your child while encouraging positive digital habits.

By working together at school and at home, we can help students safely explore, learn, and grow in today's digital world.

We have many field trips happening in October. We know that our students love field trips and we are excited that our PTA has helped to supplement some of the cost of these trips for all children. As a reminder, even when field trips are located in a public place, field trips are reserved for staff, students and approved chaperones only. This allows us to maintain safety of our students while we are away from the school building. We thank you for your support and understanding that student safety is a main priority each day. 

Our Dolphin Fund fundraiser is officially underway, but we’re off to a slower start than last year, and we could really use your help!

The Dolphin Fund is our PTA’s direct donation fundraiser. No selling, no products, and no extra work for families. Just donations that go directly back to supporting our students, teachers, and school community.

Whether it’s $5, $10, $25, or more, every donation adds up and helps us continue providing the programs, events, and experiences that make JDES special.

If you’ve already donated, THANK YOU! If you haven’t had a chance yet, there’s still time! And if donating isn’t possible right now, sharing our fundraiser with family and friends is another wonderful way to help.

We need a few helping hands to keep fall Picture Day running smoothly! Volunteers will help students get ready for their picture and keep things moving. Shifts are available between 8:30 AM and 1:30 PM, so sign up by clicking here!
